Amit Kar

Starting out with his father’s fully manual, hand-me-down film SLR, Amit shot exclusively black and white street images for several years. Film, being expensive and limited to 36 shots per roll, taught Amit to look closely for a scene with emotional impact, and to be judicious about composition, before pressing the shutter button. Although he shoots predominantly digitally now Amit’s approach remains the same — shoot slowly, deliberately, and try to produce an image that will make the viewer stop and think for a moment.
Although he still shoots only for love of the art, Amit’s photographs have appeared in online and print magazines, in virtual and real galleries, and have placed in international, professional-level competitions.
